Ord Ferry Bridge Replacement
Knight CM Group
Knight CM Group personnel provided construction management and inspection services for this 1,300-foot-long by 32-foot-wide, 9-span, seismic retrofit bridge project over the Sacramento River. The project consisted of retrofitting existing footings, columns, and superstructure with additional piling, footing concrete, column casings, and pipe restrainers at hinges. It also included providing soffit access openings, replacing bearing pads at the hinges, replacing joint seals, and applying methacrylate deck treatment.
The Ord Ferry Road Bridge, originally constructed in 1951, serves as a critical connection between Butte and Glenn Counties, facilitating transportation and commerce in the region. The seismic retrofit project aimed to enhance the bridge's structural integrity and ensure its compliance with updated safety standards, thereby extending its service life and improving safety for daily commuters and commercial vehicles.
In 2024, Butte County initiated the Ord Ferry Bridge Replacement Project to further modernize the infrastructure. This project involves constructing a new 640-foot-long by 43-foot-wide bridge along Ord Ferry Road over Little Chico Creek. The combined efforts of these projects underscore the county's commitment to maintaining and improving essential transportation routes, ensuring safety, and supporting economic vitality in the area.
