Deer Creek Viaduct

Project Description

The Deer Creek Viaduct is a vital structure within the California High-Speed Rail system, designed to support the safe and efficient passage of high-speed trains over the Deer Creek waterway in Tulare County. Spanning approximately 3,000 feet in length, the viaduct is one of several major structures included in the larger Construction Package 2-3, which covers a significant portion of the alignment between Fresno and Bakersfield in California’s Central Valley.

This segment of the high-speed rail system includes a series of elevated viaducts that cross various waterways and natural features such as the Kings River, Cross Creek, Tule River, and Deer Creek, each requiring thoughtful engineering solutions to address hydrology, soil conditions, and environmental impacts. The Deer Creek Viaduct, in particular, features dozens of reinforced concrete columns forming the substructure that will support the elevated track structure.

Once complete, the viaduct will allow high-speed trains to traverse this section of Tulare County with minimal disruption to the surrounding environment and existing land uses, enhancing connectivity while maintaining ecological sensitivity. The structure reflects the broader goals of the California High-Speed Rail project: to deliver safe, sustainable, and efficient transportation infrastructure that supports regional mobility and economic development.
