Mountain View Overhead Bridge
Project Description
The Mountain View Avenue Grade Separation, situated between Cedar and Peach avenues in Fresno County, is a critical infrastructure project completed as part of the California High-Speed Rail initiative. This overcrossing spans 368 feet in length and 40 feet in width, facilitating vehicular traffic over both the existing BNSF railroad and the future high-speed rail lines. The project involved the use of 1,600 cubic yards of concrete and over 400,000 pounds of steel, incorporating 16 pre-cast concrete girders manufactured at the Dragados-Flatiron Joint Venture Pre-Cast Facility in Hanford. These girders, ranging from 60 to 130 feet in length and weighing up to 140,000 pounds, were installed to form the superstructure of the overcrossing. The completion of this grade separation enhances safety by eliminating at-grade crossings, thereby reducing traffic congestion and minimizing greenhouse gas emissions from idling vehicles.
